On October 29th, 1969 the first message was sent between to computers. It marks the birth of the internet. It is amazing how much the Internet has evolved over the past 40 years. i don't think any of the people who started the Internet could have known exactly how much the internet as changed our society. It has affected everything from school to business to entertainment. traditional news sources are going out of business because of the convenience th internet offers. Over 1 billion people are online and last year google claimed over 1 trillion pages existed. it is hard to imagine everyday life without the internet. I even find myself freaking out if my internet connection fails. I get almost all of my news online, from weather to major events. I use it for banking, studying, watching movies, and connecting with people. After all the problems people claim the internet causes I still think the Internet is a major milestone in todays society. It makes everything so much easier, and who wouldn't want things to be easier?

I agree that the internet is a huge mark and milestone in humanity, it always boggles my mind to think about how it actually works. I couldn't even name all the ways that the internet impacts my daily life and makes things easier and faster. Although the internet has a great many flaws, the pros outweigh the cons. As for the future of the internet and its capabilities, that is what has me nervous. How many jobs can be eliminated by simply using a computer? How does the globalization of the internet negatively influence society? Just how far can machines and technology go? There might be some dire consequences in the future of technology, however brilliant the past innovations look.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Our society is based on laziness and simplicity. We look for anything that comes simple and easy to us. Thus, I totally agree with the fact that the internet is a necessity in our daily lives. It’s truly an amazing discovery. I have found myself very dependent on it, and I remember that when the snow day came around our CU LINK/LEARN was down, it was nerve wrecking!!!
