Why not talk about my research topic?
Since I have my research essay on my mind I figured a blog about my topic would be fitting. my topic is Children and the Internet. I think it is important to introduce children to the internet and all the benefits it provides while they are "young and impressionable." Some people say no, that children should be taught in the tradtional "chalk and blackboard" fashion that all the great minds had. Well, why would you not help kids become acquainted with something that will literally be part of their everyday life...for the rest of their life? Lets face it, technology can provide teaching tools that have never been available before, why not utilize them. With the invention of the smartboard and other equally useful new tools children have the ability to learn and recieve information in ways that they are more likely to remember. Not only are grade school teachers emplying these tactics, but college campuses everywhere are making entire committees in charge of getting the newest educational technologies available for the use of their students. I completely agree with what you are saying here. I feel that it is very important to introduce children to the internet and technology as it is involving. Nowadays, the internet is the biggest teaching tool and i don't see that changing anytime in the near future. Teaching them only about the chalk and chalkboard will be useless if they are being taught using the internet and everything is digital.
ReplyDeleteI also totally agree. Children most certainly have to stay in the loop with technology, after all, they are our future. Its vital for children to know how to use computers and the newest programs and accessories. Sometimes I feel out of the technology curve by not knowing how to use powerpoint or media applications on my computer for projects. Although its easier on our generation to learn the latest and greatest technology has to offer, we still have to be taught, just like our parents and the generation before them on how you use technologies.
